Commercial Burglary to Happy 13 Liquors

Incident #: 50-15-1428       Date/Time: Saturday, January 17th, 0450 hours

Location:        262 S. DuPont Hwy Dover, DE

Narrative:

On Saturday January 17, 2015 at 0450 hours and unknown suspect gained access to the roof of Happy 13 Liquors. Once the suspect was on the roof the suspect removed a 12″ x 12″ fan that was bolted to the roof. The suspect then tied an extension cord around an A/C unit and used the extension cord to lower himself inside the business. Once inside the business suspect pried open a cash register with a pry bar removing an undisclosed amount of cash, money orders, and checks. Suspect fled out the back door of the business with two cash registers into an unknown direction. Suspect is described as possibly a white male, approximately 5’7 to 5’8 inches tall. Anyone with information about this burglary is asked to contact the City of Dover Police Department Criminal Investigation Unit.

Weekly Shoplifter Arrests 1/8/15-1/15/15

The Dover Police Department responded to 21 shoplifting calls between Noon on January 8th and Noon on January 15th.  Of those 21 shoplifting complaints, two were unfounded, one business declined prosecution, eight are still under investigation, and arrests were made/warrants obtained in 10 cases. A total of 10 adults and 2 juveniles were arrested or are wanted for shoplifting during this period.  final

Gold Alert for Dorothy Megginson Cancelled 1-15-2014

Update:  The Gold Alert for Dorothy Megginson has been cancelled.  Megginson was located in Virginia in good condition and will be reunited with her family shortly.

 

The Dover Police Department has issued a Gold Alert for missing 80-year-old Dorothy Megginson of Clayton. Megginson was last seen in our area at approximately 4:00PM near the Lowes at North DuPont Highway and Rustic Lane, operating her vehicle, according to a family member who saw her driving. The vehicle is a 4-door Mazda Protege, teal in color (DE REG: 237482). Megginson was last seen wearing a white coat with a red scarf. The family reported the woman missing at 11:58PM at the Dover Police Department on 1-14-2015. It is believed that Megginson’s safety is at risk due to medical conditions she suffers from. Megginson was stopped by Prince George’s County Police at 2:00AM and purchased gas at a gas station on Livingston Road in Maryland.

Man Charged with 3rd Offense DUI/Vehicular Assault 1-12-2015

Location:  Walker Road/Saulsbury Road, Dover, DE

Narrative:
A 35-year-old Dover man was charged with a 3rd offense (Felony) DUI and Vehicular Assault after causing a three car accident on Saturday afternoon.  At approximately 2:53PM, officers responded to a report of the accident with injuries in the area of Walker Road and Saulsbury Road.  It was learned through the investigation that a maroon 2002 Mercury Mountaineer, operated by Antoine Collier, was traveling westbound at a high rate of speed as it approached the Saulsbury Road intersection.  A 2013 Nissan Altima was stopped behind a 2002 Jeep Cherokee at the intersection, also facing westbound.  The vehicle operated by Collier, struck the rear of the Nissan Altima, forcing that vehicle into the rear of the Jeep Cherokee.  The operator of the Altima suffered injuries to her back and abdomen and was transported to Bayhealth Kent General Hospital for treatment.  Collier showed signs of heavy intoxication and was arrested for Driving Under the Influence and Vehicular Assault (2nd Degree).  Collier was charged with 3rd offense DUI after it was learned that he had prior DUI conviction in  September of 2001 and June of 2013.  He was also cited for Driving with a Revoked license.  Collier was released by Justice of the Peace Court 7 after posting a $1,900.00 secured bond.
