Man Charged with 3rd Offense DUI/Vehicular Assault 1-12-2015

Narrative:
A 35-year-old Dover man was charged with a 3rd offense (Felony) DUI and Vehicular Assault after causing a three car accident on Saturday afternoon. At approximately 2:53PM, officers responded to a report of the accident with injuries in the area of Walker Road and Saulsbury Road. It was learned through the investigation that a maroon 2002 Mercury Mountaineer, operated by Antoine Collier, was traveling westbound at a high rate of speed as it approached the Saulsbury Road intersection. A 2013 Nissan Altima was stopped behind a 2002 Jeep Cherokee at the intersection, also facing westbound. The vehicle operated by Collier, struck the rear of the Nissan Altima, forcing that vehicle into the rear of the Jeep Cherokee. The operator of the Altima suffered injuries to her back and abdomen and was transported to Bayhealth Kent General Hospital for treatment. Collier showed signs of heavy intoxication and was arrested for Driving Under the Influence and Vehicular Assault (2nd Degree). Collier was charged with 3rd offense DUI after it was learned that he had prior DUI conviction in September of 2001 and June of 2013. He was also cited for Driving with a Revoked license. Collier was released by Justice of the Peace Court 7 after posting a $1,900.00 secured bond.
