Man Arrested with BB Gun and Knife After Threatening Others 5-30-2018

Narrative: 
A 30-year-old Dover man was arrested on weapons charges after waving what appeared to be a firearm at a group of people on Tuesday night.  At approximately 8:40PM, officers responded to the area of S. Bradford Street and Loockerman Street for a report that the man later identified as Dareus Anderson, was waving a firearm in the air.  Upon arrival, witnesses advised that Anderson, who was dressed in all red, had been arguing with a several subject in the area and motioned toward his waistband while making threats about a gun.  Officers located Anderson and discovered that he had a BB gun tucked in the waistband of his pants.  A further search revealed a 7″ butcher knife in his backpack as well.  Anderson was taken into custody without incident and will be charged with the following offenses:
-Carrying Concealed Deadly Weapon
-Possession of Deadly Weapon by Person Prohibited
-Disorderly Conduct

Anderson has not been arraigned on the above offenses as he was hospitalized shortly after arrest for an unrelated issue.

Burglary at ACE Network Offices 5-29-2018

Narrative: 

The Dover Police Department is investigating a commercial burglary that occurred between Friday, May 25th, 2018 at 7:00PM and Sunday, May 27th, 2018 at 10:17AM. During that time, an unknown suspect forced entry into the business by breaking a window.  The unknown suspect then entered several offices within the building and took an undisclosed amount of cash before fleeing.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact the Dover Police Department at (302)736-7130. Callers may remain anonymous. Man Arrested with Gun After Fleeing from Police 5-29-2018

Narrative: 

The Dover Police Department arrested a Smyrna man in possession of a stolen firearm on Sunday morning.  At approximately 1:04AM, officers were called to a home in the 300 Block of W. Division Street for a 911 hangup.  Upon arrival, officers contacted a person at the home who advised somebody from a neighboring residence came to his home and asked him to call 911 because there was someone at his home with a gun.  Officers were then able to contact two other subjects from that residence who described the suspect as being a black male with a gray sweatshirt and dark pants who walked in their unsecured front door to the residence and displayed a firearm, and then fled.  

Officers checked the area and located a suspect matching that description in the area of North New Street and North Governors Avenue.  When officers attempted contact, the suspect fled on foot but was apprehended in the 200 block of West Division Street and identified as Alex Durham (26).  A loaded 9mm that Durham was carrying was located nearby and later identified as being stolen.

Durham was committed to JTVCC on $86,500 secured bond on the following offenses:
Note: Durham was not charged with any crimes relating to entering the home due to no cooperation by the victims.
-Possession of Firearm During Commission of Felony
-Possession of Firearm/Ammo by Person Prohibited
-Carry Concealed Deadly Weapon
-Resisting Arrest
-Receiving Stolen Firearm

Man Arrested After Chasing Children with Pellet Gun 5-24-2018

Location:   900 Block of Whatcoat Drive, Dover, DE

Narrative: 

The Dover Police Department arrested 36-year-old Russell Ewell Jr. after he chased five kids with a pellet gun on Wednesday evening.  Officers responded to the 900 Block of Whatcoat Drive after a parent reported the incident, claiming that Ewell was chasing the children (age range 6-14) with a handgun.  Officers reviewed surveillance footage and observed what appeared to be a black handgun in Ewell’s possession and observed him chasing the children as well.

Officers contacted Ewell at a residence in the 900 Block of Whatcoat Drive.  At that time, officers located a black Smith and Wesson pellet gun inside the residence.  The gun did not have any markings to indicate that it was not a real hand gun.  

Ewell was taken into custody without incident and committed to JTVCC in default of $20,000 secured bond on the following offenses:
-Aggravated Menacing (5x)
-Terroristic Threatening (5x)
-Possession of Deadly Weapon by Person Prohibited
-Possession of Deadly Weapon During Commission of Felony

The Dover Police Department has issued a Gold Alert for a missing 42-year-old man. Albert Baldwin was last seen in the area of 600 West Division Street the morning of May 23rd, 2018.  He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black t-shirt, and black jeans.  Baldwin has since made statements that are concerning in regards to his health and safety.  If you have any information on Albert Baldwin’s whereabouts, please contact the Dover Police Department at 302-736-7111.
