Narrative:
The Dover Police Department arrested 36-year-old Russell Ewell Jr. after he chased five kids with a pellet gun on Wednesday evening. Officers responded to the 900 Block of Whatcoat Drive after a parent reported the incident, claiming that Ewell was chasing the children (age range 6-14) with a handgun. Officers reviewed surveillance footage and observed what appeared to be a black handgun in Ewell’s possession and observed him chasing the children as well.
Officers contacted Ewell at a residence in the 900 Block of Whatcoat Drive. At that time, officers located a black Smith and Wesson pellet gun inside the residence. The gun did not have any markings to indicate that it was not a real hand gun.
Ewell was taken into custody without incident and committed to JTVCC in default of $20,000 secured bond on the following offenses:
-Aggravated Menacing (5x)
-Terroristic Threatening (5x)
-Possession of Deadly Weapon by Person Prohibited
