Body in Silver Lake Identified as Erick Acevedo-Palencia (Missing Wesley College Student) 3-17-2019

UPDATE:
The Dover Police Department has confirmed that the body that was located in Silver Lake on Sunday, March 17th, has been identified as Erick Acevedo-Palencia (21).  Acevedo-Palencia was reported missing after he was last seen leaving a Wesley College dorm on February 12th, 2019.  The Dover Police Department had issued a Gold Alert for Acevedo-Palencia based on information they had obtained following his disappearance (See: Gold Alert Issued for Missing Wesley College Student)

Narrative: 

The Dover Police Department is conducting a death investigation following the discovery of a body in Silver Lake on Monday morning.  At approximately 9:10AM, officers responded to Silver Lake after receiving a call from a citizen who located the body near the shore line of Lake Club Apartments.  The Dover Fire Department helped to remove the deceased person from the lake.  The body was then taken by the Delaware Division of Forensic Science Medical Examiner’s Unit.  

No further information is being released at this time pending confirmation of identity and notification of next of kin.

UPDATE: The Gold Alert issued for Tatiana Turner has been cancelled after she was located and brought to a local hospital for further evaluation.

Narrative:

The Dover Police Department has issued a Gold Alert for a missing 14-year-old.  Tatiana Turner was reported missing by her family on Saturday, March 16th at approximately 5:45PM following a family disagreement.  Turner was last seen wearing a green sweater, pink pants, and white shoes with a floral design on them.  She is described as being 5,5″, 185 lbs., with black hair in a mohawk style, and brown eyes.  Turner has a condition that may present health or safety concerns if not properly treated/maintained.    If you have any information on Turner’s whereabouts, please contact the Dover Police Department at 302-736-7111.

Burglary at Oreck Vacuum 3-15-2019

Narrative: 

The Dover Police Department is investigating a commercial burglary that occurred on Thursday morning between 6:00AM-8:21AM.  During that time, an unknown suspect used a rock to break a front window to the Oreck Vacuum business located at 512 N. DuPont Highway.  Once inside, the suspect stole merchandise from within the business and fled in an unknown direction.

Traffic Stop for Seat belt Violation Leads to Drug Arrest 3-14-2019

Narrative: 

The Dover Police Department arrested Jamaal Curry on drug charges during a traffic stop on Tuesday evening.  At approximately 5:39PM on March 12th, 2019, a Dover officer observed a Nissan Altima traveling in the area of West Division Street and South Bradford Street with a passenger not wearing a seat belt.  The officer stopped the vehicle and contacted the driver, Jamaal Curry (39).  While Curry was looking for his identification, the officer observed in plain view, a brass knuckles marijuana vape pen in the center console of the vehicle.  A subsequent search of the vehicle led to the discovery of 139 bags of heroin and 12 Oxycodone pills.

Curry was arrested without incident and released on an O.R. bond on the following offenses:
-Possession with Intent to Deliver Heroin
-Possession of  a Controlled Substance(Rx pills)
-Possession of Marijuana
-Seatbelt Violation

 

Suspect Wanted in Burglary of Pine Street Home 3-14-2019

Narrative: 

The Dover Police Department is seeking Henry Fordham (41) in connection with a residential burglary.  The owner of the home located in the 100 Block of Pine Street is currently making renovations.  On Friday, March 9th, the owner noticed the inside o the home had been left in disarray by someone who had entered while he was not there.  On, March 10th, 2019, the owner responded to the residence and noticed a saw horse against a window that he did not leave there.  The owner then observed Fordham running from the residence.  Inside the home, the owner found Fordham’s ID card.  The Dover Police Department currently has a warrant for Fordham’s arrest as a result of this incident.

Dover Police Investigating Vandalism at Lakeside Cemetery 3-14-2019

Narrative: 

The Dover Police Department is investigating a vandalism incident that occurred at the Lakeside Cemetery on North State Street in Dover.  Between 6:00PM on Wednesday, March 13th and 8:19AM on Thursday, March 14th, an unknown suspect(s) entered the cemetery and damaged at least four memorials/headstones in the oldest section of the cemetery. It is unknown how the suspect(s) damaged the memorials/headstones at this time.
