Narrative:
The Dover Police Department arrested Richard Edwards in connection with an attempted residential burglary and thefts from vehicles. On May 27th, 2019 at approximately 3:28PM, officers responded to a home in the 200 Block of Meadow Drive for an attempted burglary. Edwards and another suspect knocked on the victims front door. When the owner did not answer, the suspects attempted to break in through a rear door. The victim was inside the residence on the second floor. The suspects saw the victim and fled the area on foot. Arriving officers attempted to stop the suspects, but they were able to flee successfully at the time. On the morning of May 28th, officers stopped Edwards as he was breaking into vehicles in the parking lot of Dover Downs Hotel and Casino. Officers recognized Edwards as the suspect from the attempted residential burglary from the day prior and he was taken into custody without incident.
The second suspect remains at large and is described as a black male, wearing shorts, and a dark shirt.
Edwards (46) was released on an O.R. bond on the following charges, stemming from both incidents:
-Attempted Burglary 2nd Degree
-Conspiracy 2nd Degree
-Criminal Mischief (3x)
-Resisting Arrest
-Attempted Theft from Motor Vehicle
-Theft Under $1500.00
-Disorderly Conduct
-Criminal Trespass 1st Degree
