Narrative: 

The Dover Police Department is investigating a shooting that injured a 38-year-old male.  Officers responded to the area of Simon Circle at approximately 9:31PM on Saturday night and located the victim with a single gunshot wound to the leg.  The victim was transported to Kent General Hospital were he was treated for a non-life threatening injury to his leg.  The suspects were described as two black males who were wearing masks, black shirts, and jeans.

Burglary at Learning All Hours, Educational, Community, and Youth Center 5-31-2020

Narrative: 

The Dover Police Department is investigating a burglary that occurred at the Learning All Hours, Educational, Community, and Youth Center at 230 Sheldrake Circle.  Sometime between 12:30AM-1:19PM on May 30th, three unknown black male suspects entered the center through an unsecured window.  Once inside, they stole keys to a vehicle that was in the parking lot and then stole the vehicle.  The vehicle was located in Newark, DE several hours later when it was crashed and abandoned.

Dover Man Arrested for DUI and Firearm Possession While Intoxicated After Being Found Asleep at the Wheel 5-28-2020

Narrative: 

The Dover Police Department arrested Shawn Schlegel (43) for DUI and firearm charges during a traffic stop on Wednesday evening.  At approximately 10:41, Schlegel was contacted by officers responding to a man slumped over the steering wheel in the area of Blue Beach Drive and Alder Road.  During the stop, Schlegel was determined to be under the influence of alcohol.  Schlegel was also found to have a loaded 9mm handgun in the vehicle.

Schlegel was later released on an O.R. Bond on the following charges:
-DUI
-Possession of Firearm While Intoxicated

Dover Man Arrested for DUI and Possession of Firearm While Intoxicated 5-28-2020

Narrative: 

The Dover Police Department arrested Deshawn Watson (30) for DUI and firearm charges during a traffic stop on Sunday morning.  At approximately 12:50AM, Watson was observed running a red light at S. Governors Avenue and Webb’s Lane.  During the following traffic stop, Watson was determined to be under the influence of alcohol.  Watson was also in possession of a loaded 9mm handgun.

Watson was later released on an O.R. Bond on the following charges:
-Failure to Stop at a Red Light
-DUI
-Possession of Firearm While Intoxicated

Shots Fired at Barrister Place 5-26-2020

Narrative: 

The Dover Police Department is investigating a shooting incident that caused damage to a home and two vehicles.  Officers responded to a shots fired complaint at approximately 10:42PM in the 400 Block of Barrister Place.  Upon arrival, it was discovered that two unoccupied vehicles and an occupied residence were struck by gunfire.  No injuries resulted from the incident.

Pizza Delivery Driver Shot During Robbery 5-26-2020

Narrative: 

The Dover Police Department is investigating a robbery that resulted in a pizza delivery driver being shot in the arm on Sunday night. At approximately 10:00PM, a 23-year-old male delivery driver made a delivery to a building at Woodmill Apartments.  As he was leaving, he was approached by two black males who demanded money.  The victim advised he did not have money.  The suspects then demanded his car keys and the driver refused.  One of the suspects fired one shot, striking the driver in the arm before both suspects fled on foot.  The victim drove himself to Kent General Hospital where he was treated and released for a single wound.

Home Invasion on North Queen Street 5-22-2020

Narrative: 

The Dover Police Department is investigating a home invasion that occurred in the 200 Block of North Queen Street.  At approximately 11:45PM, a male and female suspect knocked on the door to a residence and asked for a person by name.  A female occupant (53) told them that person was not home.  Approximately one minute later, both suspects were knocking again. This time, a different female occupant answered the door, and the suspects forced entry into the home, each brandishing a handgun.  

The suspects stole a Fire tablet from one of the victims and at one point picked up a 4-year-old child and dropped him, causing a minor injury to the child before fleeing.  The suspects possibly fled in a newer model black passenger vehicle with tinted windows.  

The suspects were described as follows:
Suspect 1:  Black male, late 20’s-early 30’s, wearing a black jumpsuit, with a black handgun

Suspect 2: Black female, thin build, wearing a black jumpsuit with a hood pulled tightly over her head/face, and a black mask covering her nose and mouth

Vehicle Struck by Gunfire in Sussex Avenue Alley 5-22-2020

Narrative: 

The Dover Police Department is investigating a shooting incident that left an unoccupied vehicle with damage.  At approximately 11:53PM on Thursday, May 21st, officers responded to the rear alley of the 400 Block of Sussex Avenue for a report of shots fired.  Officers located several shell casings on the ground along with a vehicle that was struck by multiple rounds.  The vehicle was unoccupied at the time of the incident.
