Suspect Charged in June 24th Bicentennial Village Shooting

 

UPDATE:  The Dover Police Department has made an arrest in the June 24th shooting incident that occurred in Bicentennial Village (original news release below).  Kyree Robinson (20) has been charged in connection with the shooting based on evidence found during the investigation.  Robinson was also charged in a June 21st shooting on Frear Drive after he was arrested following a vehicle pursuit on June 28th.

Robinson remains held at SCI and received an additional $100,000 cash bond on the following charges:
-Reckless Endangering 1st Degree (3x)
-Possession of Firearm During Commission of Felony
-Possession of Firearm by Person Prohibited
-Conspiracy 2nd Degree

Narrative:

The Dover Police Department is investigating a shooting incident that occurred on Thursday afternoon at the intersection of Bicentennial Boulevard and Declaration Drive.  Officers were called to the area for reports of shots being fired.  The investigation revealed that a Chevrolet Trailblazer pulled in front of a GMC Terrain at the intersection.  A subject in the GMC Terrain fired multiple rounds in the direction of the Trailblazer and both then fled the area.  Officers located the Trailblazer in a nearby neighborhood with multiple bullet holes in it and contacted the owner.  The owner was uncooperative with police other than to say that an argument had occurred in The Hamlet Shopping Center (corner of Walker Road and McKee Road) prior to the shooting.  Detectives were able to confirm that both vehicles were in the shopping center using video surveillance but were unable to determine if an altercation occurred.  

No injuries or further damage was reported as a result of gunfire.  A mailbox in the area was struck by a fleeing vehicle.

33-Year-Old Male Shot on Tuesday Morning

Narrative:

The Dover Police Department is investigating a shooting incident that occurred on Tuesday morning.  Officers responded to the 100 Block of West Loockerman Street after a report of an altercation that occurred.  When officers arrived, they located a large amount of blood in front of Irish Mike’s.  Video footage showed that a fight had occurred in front of the establishment that involved several people.  While officers were still on the scene, a 33-year-old male arrived at Kent General Hospital with a gunshot wound to his leg.  Officers interviewed the victim multiple times.  The victim was extremely uncooperative, telling several different versions of the incident to officers as well as different locations where the incident may have occurred.  The victim told officers that even if a suspect is found that he did not want them arrested and would not cooperate with the investigation.    

Despite the victim not wanting to cooperate, officers interviewed several people that were in the area at the time of the altercation on Loockerman Street.  None of the persons interviewed saw a gun or heard gunshots in the area.  Officers checked multiple locations for additional physical evidence and could not locate a scene.

Probation Check Leads to Firearm and Drug Charges for Dover Man

Narrative:

On Monday, July 12th, the Dover Police Department assisted Delaware Probation and Parole with a home visit for Terrence Davis (32) in the 100 Block of Willis Road.  Davis had an active capias for his arrest as well.  When Davis answered the door, officers could smell a strong odor of marijuana inside.  Probation and Parole conducted an administrative search of the home and located a .40 caliber handgun inside of the dishwasher, two handgun magazines, 47.3 grams of MDMA, 13.3 grams of marijuana, and two digital scales.  Davis and a 27-year-old male that was also inside the home were taken into custody and transported to the Dover Police Department.  The 27-year-old male was released after being issued a civil citation for Possession of Marijuana.  

Terrence Davis was committed to SCI on a $193,200 cash bond on the following offenses:
-Possession of Firearm During Commission of Felony
-Possession of MDMA
-Possession of Firearm/Ammo by Person Prohibited (3x)
-Illegal Gang Participation
-Possession of Marijuana

Arrest Made in June 21st Shooting on Frear Drive

 

UPDATE: The Dover Police Department has charged Kyree Robinson (23) with the June 21st shooting that seriously injured a 25-year-old male victim in the area of Frear Drive and Garfield Drive.  Robinson was arrested on June 28th by the Dover Police Department after leading them on a vehicle chase that ended when Robinson crashed into three other vehicles in the intersection of Saulsbury Road and Forrest Avenue.  Robinson was held on bond at SCI on charges stemming from that incident when detectives obtained a warrant for his arrest for his involvement in the June 21st shooting.

Robinson remains held at SCI with on an additional $62,000 secured bond on the following offenses:
-Assault 1st Degree
-Possession of Firearm During Commission of Felony
-Possession of Firearm by Person Prohibited
-Conspiracy 2nd Degree

Narrative:

The Dover Police Department is investigating a shooting that left a 25-year-old man with serious injuries.  The incident occurred at approximately 10:18 p.m. when officers were called to the area of Garfield Drive and Frear Drive for a report of shots fired.  When they arrived, they found the male victim lying on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds.  Officers rendered aid until medical personnel arrived on scene and transported the victim to Kent General Hospital where he underwent surgery for his injuries.

Dover Man Arrested After Robbing Woman in Parking Lot

Narrative:

The Dover Police Department arrested a 49-year-old Dover man after robbing a woman in the parking lot of a 7-11 on N. DuPont Highway.  Officers responded to the store at approximately 4:56 a.m. where they contacted a 58-year-old female from Brooklyn, NY.  The victim told officers that the suspect brandished a silver handgun and demanded that she throw her cell phone underneath of a nearby car.  The suspect then demanded cash from the victim and she complied.  The suspect then fled on a bicycle in a southbound direction.  After receiving the description of the suspect, officers checked the area and located Timothy Jarvis in the area of N. DuPont Highway, south of Townsend Boulevard.  Jarvis was taken into custody without incident and committed to SCI on a $65,000 cash bond on the following charges:
-Robbery 1st Degree
-Possession of a Firearm During Commission of Felony
-Possession of Firearm By Person Prohibited
-Carry Concealed Deadly Weapon

Narrative:

The Dover Police Department is investigating a shooting incident that occurred on Friday night.  At approximately 9:51 p.m., officers responded to the 200 Block of Cecil Street for a report of shots being fired.  When they arrived, officers located a 44-year-old male victim with a single gunshot wound to the lower leg.  The victim refused to provide any information to officers, becoming disorderly with them. The victim also became disorderly with responding medics and attempted to refuse treatment.  The victim refused to sign a waiver to refuse treatment against medical advice and was transported by medics to Kent General Hospital.  While at the hospital, the victim continued to be belligerent with officers and staff, causing a disturbance.  The victim was subsequently charged with disorderly conduct.

Officers at the scene of the shooting located a revolver in the area of the shooting.

Traffic Stop Leads to Gun Arrest

Narrative:

The Dover Police Department arrested Jawan Custis (28) on weapons charges following a traffic stop on Thursday evening.  At approximately 8:22 p.m., officers stopped Custis in the are of Simon Circle and Slaughter Street  for a seatbelt violation.  During the stop, the passenger in the vehicle advised officers that he had marijuana on him.  During a search of the vehicle, officers located a loaded 9mm handgun under the driver’s seat where Custis was. Both men were taken into custody without incident.  The passenger in the vehicle was released after receiving a civil violation for Possession of Marijuana and Drug Paraphernalia, as well as having a capias.

Custis was committed to SCI on $23,000 secured bond on the following offenses:
-Carry Concealed Deadly Weapon
-Possession of Firearm by Person Prohibited
-Possession of Ammunition by Person Prohibited

National Night Out Returns to Dover in 2021

The Dover Police Department will once again bring the National Night Out to the Dover community on Tuesday, August 3rd from 6-8pm.  The event brings the Dover Police Department, along with several emergency agencies and military personnel to one place where the public can bring their families to meet and greet local heroes and see the equipment used in their jobs while forming a positive relationship with the community.  In addition to appearances and demonstrations by these agencies, Night Out will feature fun activities for all ages along with food and beverages for all while supplies last.  The venue for the event has been moved to the Dover High School at 1 Dover High Drive, Dover, DE.  This is the first National Night Out event since 2019.  The 2020 event was cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The National Night Out  provides a variety of agencies with an opportunity to show our citizens what services they provide, the vehicles and equipment they use, and a chance to interact with personnel in a relaxed atmosphere.
