Suspect Arrested After Shooting at Vehicle

Narrative:

The Dover Police Department arrested a suspect following a shooting that occurred on Sunday evening on the west side of Silver Lake Park.  At approximately 6:47 p.m., officers received a call from a 27-year-old female victim that her car was shot while in Silver Lake Park and that she was following the suspect vehicle to Woodcrest Apartments.  Officers were able to determine that the suspect (later identified as Kiara Banks, 26) resided in building 858 and surrounded the building and called the suspect out.  Banks and another female occupant peacefully surrendered to police.  A search warrant was obtained for the residence and officers located a 9mm handgun inside of a trashcan.  

Banks was charged with the following offenses:
-Possession of Firearm During Commission of Felony
-Reckless Endangering 1st Degree (2x)
-Tampering with Physical Evidence
-Criminal Mischief

Bond information and mugshot were unavailable at time of release.

Dover Police Investigating Pair of Restaurant Burglaries

Narrative:

The Dover Police Department is investigating two burglaries that occurred on Sunday morning.  Officers responded to the King Buffet, located at 293 N. DuPont Highway, at approximately 8:56 a.m. for a report of a burglary.  When officers arrived, a cash register was seen hanging from a broken window.  Video surveillance showed a skinny male suspect wearing a hooded sweatshirt, gloves, face mask, a hat, and possibly jeans when he forced entry into the business.

At 9:55 a.m., officers responded to the Friendly’s restaurant at 318 N. DuPont Highway, and across the street from the King Buffet for a report of a burglary.  Arriving officers located a broken window in the walk-up service area.  Once the suspect was inside, they forced open a safe and removed the contents, including an undisclosed amount of cash.  Video surveillance showed the the suspect used a hammer to break the glass and gain entry into business. The suspect was wearing dark jeans, black  Nike hooded sweatshirt, hat, gloves, and a face mask.

Dover Police Investigating Shooting that Wounded Victim’s Foot

Narrative:

The Dover Police Department is investigating a shooting that occurred in the Cannon Hills development on Katrina Way.  Officers responded to the area on Sunday at 2:52 a.m. for multiple reports of shots fired. Arriving officers could not locate any victims or damage in the area at the time.  A short time later, a 21-year-old male victim was transported by private vehicle to the Bayhealth Kent Campus with a graze wound to his foot from gunfire.  The driver alleged he was at the Wawa on Forrest Avenue when unknown suspects fired multiple times at his vehicle.

Strong Armed Robbery at WAWA

Narrative:

On Saturday, September 4th, 2021 at approximately 0618 hours, Dover Police responded to the Wawa convenience store on Forrest Avenue for a robbery. Responding officers viewed video surveillance of the incident which showed a white male suspect arrive in a Silver Chevrolet Silverado, enter the store with his own bag (light green in color) and proceeds to the register area.

While the suspect is at this location, he places approximately 20 breakfast sandwiches into the bag and walked toward the exit door. A male employee stood in the doorway to the entry/exit door of the store in attempt to prevent the suspect from stealing the items from Wawa. During the course of this action, the W/M suspect uses his body weight/mass to “bull rush” and knock the employee down to the ground to successfully steal the items from the store.
