Dover Police to Participate in No-Shave November for Charity 10-16-2018

Several officers from the Dover Police Department will have a new look for the month of November.  In partnership with the Fraternal Order of Police (F.O.P.) Lodge 15 (Dover Police), the Dover Police Department is allowing officers to grow facial hair as a fundraiser for “No-Shave November.”  Officers who wish to participate must contribute $30 ($1 per day) that will benefit the Delaware Prostate Cancer Coalition

Participating officers must adhere to the following grooming standards for the month of November:
Beards, whether full or goatees, are authorized; however they must be worn with a mustache. Beards shall be kept clean, neatly trimmed, and present a conservative, professional appearance. Facial hair of any kind that presents any sort of faddish appearance is prohibited. No portion of the beard may be exceptionally longer than the rest, and beard hair length will not exceed 1/4 inch. The neck must remain clean-shaven.

As of Tuesday, October 16th, a total of 42 employees have signed up for the fundraiser with another two weeks left to register. 

 

 

Dover Man Arrested on Firearms and Drug Charges at Bay Tree Apartments 10-16-2018

Narrative: 

James Rochester (35) was arrested on several firearms and drug offenses on Monday afternoon.  At approximately 3:16PM, officers from the Dover Police Department and Delaware Probation and Parole were conducting surveillance in the area of Bay Tree Road and Manchester Square on White Oak Road.  During that time, officers observed Rochester exit his vehicle and remove a firearm from the trunk.  Rochester then loaded the firearm and concealed it in his pants.  Rochester was taken into custody and an additional two handguns, a shotgun, 8.8 grams of cocaine, and $1,830 in suspected drug proceeds were located in the vehicle.  

Rochester was committed to SCI in default of $250,200 cash bond on the following offenses:

-Possession of Firearm During Commission of Felony
-Possession of Firearm by Person Prohibited (4x)
-Possession of Firearm by Person Prohibited (Drugs in Possession) (3x)
-Possession of Ammunition By Person Prohibited (2x)
-Possession of Cocaine (Tier 1 Qty with Agg. Factor)
-Carry Concealed Deadly Weapon
-Drug Paraphernalia

Community Cleanup by Dover PD and NCALL

The Dover Police Department and NCALL are excited to announce a joint community project on November 10th, 2018.  Volunteers from the Dover community, NCALL, Dover Police Department, and several businesses will participate in a Downtown Community Cleanup.  Volunteers will meet in the parking lot located at the intersection of Mary Street and Queen Street by 9:00AM.  From 9:00AM-12:00PM, they will work their way south in the downtown area and assist with cleaning up trash, debris, yard waste, and more to help improve the appearance of the area.  If interested in volunteering, please contact Officer Anthony Smith at 302-242-2091 or Dr. Chanda at 302-678-9400.

 

Man Robbed on S. New Street 10-15-2018

Narrative: 

The Dover Police Department is investigating a robbery that occurred in the area of S. New Street and W. Reed Street, early Sunday morning.  At approximately 12:48AM, a 42-year-old male victim was in the area and approached by four suspects.  One of the suspects struck the victim in the face, while the others went through his pockets and personal belongings.  The suspects took several personal items from the victim before fleeing west towards Queen Street.  The victim was treated at Kent General Hospital for knee, neck, and back pain as a result of the robbery.

Suspect 1-Black male, wearing black hooded sweatshirt, dark jeans with design/bleach spots, and white shoes

Suspect 2-Black male, black jacket with  gray hood, dark pants, and black shoes with white soles

Suspect 3-Black male with hooded jacket with design on the back, white stripes on sleeves, and dark pants

Suspect 4-Black male with blue and black jacket with a red hood and jeans with a pattern on them

Burglary at Spence’s Bazaar 10-15-2018

Narrative: 

The Dover Police Department is investigating a burglary that occurred at Spence’s Bazaar on Sunday morning.  Between 5:30AM-5:51AM, an unknown suspect forced entry into the business through a door.  Once inside, the suspect(s) stole multiple jewelry items from multiple vendor booths inside the business before fleeing the area.

Man Shot During Robbery at Dover Inn Hotel Room 10-15-2018

Narrative: 

The Dover Police Department is investigating a robbery that occurred on Sunday night.  At approximately 7:36PM, unknown suspects forced their way into a room at the Dover Inn where a 23-year-old male victim was located.  During the incident, the victim was shot multiple times and had property stolen.  The victim was taken to a hospital by private vehicle where he underwent surgery and is currently admitted in serious condition.  

It is believed that this was not a random act.

Narrative: 

The Dover Police Department is investigating a residential burglary that occurred between 11:00AM on October 6th and 4:19PM on October 8th.  During that time an unknown suspect entered an apartment in the 40 Block of Country Drive through a rear window that was left unsecured.  While inside, the suspect stole several electronic items and shoes before fleeing the area.
