The Dover Police Department would like to recognize the unsung heroes of the police department, our 9-1-1 Dispatchers. This week marks National Public Safety Tele-Communicators week. The Dover Police Department employs 12 dispatchers who answered 113,139 calls in 2013. 36,870 of those calls were received on 911 emergency lines. The call center handles an average of 310 calls on a daily basis and logged over 42,000 calls for service. Not only are the dispatchers responsible for taking calls, they also communicate information to our officers, monitor the downtown surveillance cameras, and perform functions such as filing/logging arrest warrants and much more. Thank you to our 911 dispatchers for all of your hard work! Click here to learn more about this vital unit.
