On Saturday May 17, 2014 at approximately 0025 hours witnesses reported hearing several gunshots in the area of New Castle Ave and E Water St. Two suspects were involved in a gun fight and upon the officers arrival, one suspect was seen fleeing from the scene on foot. Officers observed him carrying a handgun and the gave chase. The suspect was apprehended and found to be in possession of a 357 revovler. Officers identified the suspect as Alfonzo White and discovered that he had been shot in the leg by the other suspect, who is still unknown at this time. Officers recovered two different types of shell cassings from the scene and found that one residence was damaged during the incident. The investigation is still ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact Det. Gott at 736-7138 or Dover PD at 736-7111.
