Location: Independence Blvd and Liberty Drive, Dover, DE
Narrative: Members of the Dover Police Department’s Drugs, Vice and Organized Crime Unit, along with members of SAFE Streets arrested a man in possession of 51 bags of heroin. Dion Williams (22) was contacted in the area of Independence Blvd. and Liberty Drive at approximately 5:16PM on Thursday afternoon. Williams fled from the officers, leading them on a brief foot pursuit. Once Williams was taken into custody, officers discovered 51 bags of heroin on Williams’ person. Williams was issued an emergency capias by Delaware Probation and Parole and is being held at James T. Vaughn Correctional Center.

Update: Police have released the below images in hopes of gaining additional witness information to the Kirkwood Street shooting that occurred on the morning of August 27th. The suspect is seen wearing a two-tone top, following the victim who was walking westbound on Fulton Street between New and Queen Streets. Detectives believe that witnesses may have seen or recognize the suspect based on the distinct clothing he is seen wearing. Location: Area of Kirkwood Street and Division Street, Dover, DE
Narrative: Dover police are on the scene of a shooting in the area of Kirkwood and Division Streets that occurred at approximately 10:08 this morning. A male victim suffered a gunshot wound to his foot and is being treated at a local hospital. The suspect was described as a dark-skinned black male, last seen wearing blue jeans, a 2-tone brown sweatshirt, and has a light mustache. The suspect was last seen running northbound from the scene. Dover Officers along with officers from the Delaware State Police K9 and Aviation Units are on scene checking the area for the suspect. Wesley College and area Dover schools made the decision to place their campuses on lock-down as a precautionary measure. The department will issue a release providing further details as they develop. The Dover Police Department responded to 26 complaints of shoplifting at various retailers from August 21, 2014 through August 28, 2014. At the time of this release, 19 arrests were made, 16 cases cleared, with 10 currently under investigation. Juvenile arrests for shoplifting have dropped significantly, which can be attributed to the school year. Next week’s arrests will include arrests from August 28th through September 4th. The Dover Police, along with other law enforcement agencies have wrapped up a successful 2-day warrant roundup operation. Beginning in the early morning hours of Tuesday, August 26th and ending Wednesday, August 27th, officers from the Dover Police Department, U.S. Marshall’s 1st State Fugitive Task Force, Delaware State Police, Department of Corrections, and Probation and Parole worked together to track and apprehend persons with outstanding warrants for their arrest. The operation was a success, with 34 persons being arrested on numerous criminal charges as well as several capias’ issued by courts across the state. Officers involved in the roundup operation stated that all persons arrested were generally cooperative and considered the operation one of their most successful warrant roundups in recent history.
