Domestic Violence Suspect Arrested with Firearm and Heroin After Fleeing from Police 12-30-2020

Narrative:
The Dover Police Department arrested Devon Young (20) on firearms and drug charges following a domestic related incident on Monday afternoon. At approximately 12:01 p.m. officers were called to the Red Roof Inn at 652 North DuPont Highway for a domestic incident. When officers arrived, a female victim told them that Young had struck her in the head several times during an altercation.
Officers in the area then observed Young waling in the area of North State Street, south of Lepore Drive. When the officers attempted to contact Young, he fled east on foot towards Overlook Place. As officers chased Young, they were yelling for residents to go inside their homes. While running, Young reached into his jacket pocket and pulled out a handgun. As Young did this, a resident in Overlook Place tackled Young, causing the gun to fall from his hands. Officers then took Young into custody without further incident and recovered the firearm. Young was also found to be in possession of 70 bags of heroin. The firearm Young was carrying had an obliterated serial number.
Young was committed to SCI on a $34,000 secured bond on the following charges:
-Offensive Touching (Domestic Incident)
-Resisting Arrest
-Possession with Intent to Deliver Heroin
-Possession of a Firearm by Person Prohibited
-Possession of Firearm with Obliterated Serial Number
-Carrying Concealed Deadly Weapon
