The Dover Police Department arrested Kyle Batson (22) on burglary charges on Tuesday morning. At approximately 2:20 a.m., officers responded to a Valero gas station at 530 N. DuPont Highway for a burglary alarm. When officers arrived to the scene, they observed that a window had been shattered to the business. Surveillance footage showed Batson entering the business and removing cash and cigarettes from the store. As officers checked the area, a witness advised that they observed Batson jumping into a dumpster. Officers located Batson and took him into custody without incident. Batson was released on an O.R. Bond on the following charges:
-Burglary 3rd Degree
-Theft under $1,500
-Criminal Mischief.
At 7:49 a.m., officers responded to the Saint Andrew’s Lutheran Church at 425 N. DuPont Highway for a burglary. When officers arrived, they observed that an exterior window was also shattered. Several doors/locks were damaged on the inside of the building and an Apple iPad and cash were also stolen. Officers reviewed exterior video surveillance and observed Batson at approximately 2:30 a.m., wearing the same clothing as the Valero burglary that had occurred.
Officers obtained warrants for Batson and later located him in the area of White Oak Road and N. DuPont Highway where he was arrested without incident. Batson was committed to SCI on a $2,000 secured bond on the following charges:
-Burglary 3rd Degree
