UPDATE: Gold Alert Issued for Elderly Man with Dementia

UPDATE: Dennis Smith was located by officers and has been transported back to the hospital for treatment.

Date:  Friday, October 15, 2021 at 2:01 p.m.

Location:  Bayhealth Kent Campus, 640 S. State Street, Dover, DE

Narrative:

The Dover Police Department has issued a Gold Alert for Dennis Smith (70).  Smith was waiting for treatment at Bayhealth Hospital (Kent Campus) and walked out before receiving treatment.  Smith is a 70-year-old male who has severe dementia.  Based on surveillance video, Smith was last seen exiting the hospital at approximately 12:15 p.m.   He was last known to be wearing a red and black plaid shirt, gray sweatpants, and black shoes.  Smith also has long gray hair that was pulled back in a ponytail, green eyes, and is approximately 5’6″ tall and weighs 150 pounds.
