Man Arrested with Gun and Cocaine 1-25-2014

Location: Division Street and New Street, Dover, DE
Narrative: On January 25, 2014 the Dover Police observed Vincent Bowers (DOB: 6-24-1981 (32) in the area of Division Street and New Street after receiving information that he was possibly in possession of a handgun and crack cocaine. After committing a pedestrian violation, officers observed Bowers and a female subject entering a white Chevrolet Uplander van. As officers approached, they saw Bowers moving frantically inside the vehicle and were able to take him into custody without incident. Officers then observed a Hi-Point JHP .45 caliber handgun, in plain view, in the rear of the vehicle. While searching Bowers, officers discovered a bag of crack cocaine, weighing 2.25 grams from his sweatshirt pocket. Officers also discovered another bag of crack cocaine lying next to the vehicle that Bowers had thrown when officers were approaching him. The bag weighed 10.44 grams. Upon further investigation, it was discovered that Bowers was staying at the Capitol Inn located at 1426 North DuPont Highway, Dover. A search of the room was conducted, and 38 rounds of .45 caliber ammunition, a digital scale, and identification belonging to Bowers was discovered. Bowers was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 7 and committed to James T. Vaughn Correctional Center in default of $51,501 cash bail. The female with Bowers was not charged after it was determined she had no involvement in Bowers criminal activity.
