Man Wanted for Rape Since 2018 Captured in South Carolina 1-3-2020
UPDATE: The Dover Police Department is announcing the arrest of Juan Hernandez who has been wanted for 2nd Degree Rape of a minor since October of 2018. Hernandez is not a legal resident of the United States. The Dover Police Department and U.S. Marshal’s First State Fugitive Task Force were contacted by the FBI on Tuesday, December 31st, 2019 an advised that they received a tip that Hernandez was in Beaufort County in South Carolina. On Thursday, January 2nd, Hernandez was taken into custody and is awaiting extradition to Delaware.

Narrative:
The Dover Police Department is seeking a suspect wanted for 2nd Degree Rape of a then 6-year-old girl in March of 2011. The Dover Police Department learned of the allegations made against Juan Carlos Hernandez (DOB: 7-30-85) after the victim disclosed the incident to a school therapist. Following a forensic interview and a review of other evidence, detectives obtained a warrant for 2nd Degree Rape for Hernandez. Hernandez’s location is unknown and it is possible that he has returned to Mexico since the incident occurred.
