Residential Burglary Suspect Arrested 12-3-14

Narrative:
A 27-year-old Smyrna man was arrested on Tuesday, December 2nd after being identified as a suspect in a pair of residential burglaries in the Dover area. On Sunday, November 30th at 1251PM, Dover police responded to a residential alarm in the 800 block of Bacon Avenue. Officer’s found that a rear window had been shattered. The suspect (later identified as Christopher Evans), entered the residence and stole an undisclosed amount of jewelry and fled the area. A witness from the incident advised officers there was a white Hinda Accord in the driveway of the victim’s residence that did not belong to the owner.
At 2:06PM the same day, officers responded to the 100 block of Overlook Place for a reported residential burglary. Officers arrived and discovered that the rear window of the residence was also shattered. Once inside, the suspect ransacked the home seeking valuables to steal. A witness in this incident confronted the suspect and took a photo of the suspect and his vehicle; a white Honda Accord with a Delaware registration. Detectives used the information from the witnesses to identify 27-year-old Christopher Evans, from Smyrna, as a suspect in the cases and obtained warrants for him. Evans was also a suspect in a burglary in Smyrna, DE as well. Dover and Smyrna Police officers took Evans into custody at his place of employment on Glenwood Avenue in Smyrna on Tuesday afternoon without incident.

The Dover Police Department Criminal Investigations Unit is investigating a residential burglary that occurred Sunday afternoon in the 100 Block of Overlook Place. The unknown suspect(s), entered the residence by breaking a window. Once inside the suspect(s) ransacked several rooms within the residence. It was unknown at the time if anything was stolen.
