Fatal Accident Involving Pedestrian 1-1-2015

Location:  Kenton Road, North of Fieldstone Court

Narrative:
The Dover Police Department is investigating an early morning accident that claimed the life of a 19-year-old man Thursday morning.  At approximately 4:14AM, Justin Lai (19) was riding a skateboard in the southbound travel lane of Kenton Road, north of Fieldstone Court.  Lai was wearing all black clothing while riding in the roadway.  While riding the skateboard, Lai was struck by a black Ford Focus operated by a 22 year old male that was traveling southbound on Kenton Road as well.  After striking the victim, the driver lost control of the vehicle and struck a tree on the west side of the roadway.  Lai was pronounced deceased on scene as a result of the injuries he sustained.  The accident is still under investigation at this time.
