Traffic Stop Leads to Drug Arrest 5-5-16

Narrative:
The Dover Police Department Street Crimes Unit, aided by Delaware Probation and Parole, arrested Courtney Benson (33) on several drug charges following a traffic stop on Wednesday night. Benson was stopped by officers at 9:27PM in the area of Loockerman Street at Federal Street after officers observed an equipment violation. When officers approached the vehicle they could smell a strong odor of marijuana. Officers checked the vehicle and discovered .6 grams of marijuana, Hydrocodone pills, and .9 grams of crack cocaine. Benson was taken into custody without incident. A further search of Benson led to the discovery of 5.6 grams of crack cocaine hidden on his body. Benson was released on $12,050 unsecured bond on the following charges:
-Possession with Intent to Deliver Cocaine
-Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
-Possession of Marijuana
-Possession of Cocaine (Tier 1 Qty)
-Possession with Intent to Deliver Controlled Substance
-Traffic violations
