The Dover Police Department arrested 30-year-old Erick Wyatte for vehicular assault, domestic related charges, and numerous traffic offenses on Thursday morning. The incident began when officers were responding to White Oak Condos at approximately 9:50AM for reports that Wyatte was at his ex-girlfriends residence beating on her vehicle. The female victim has an active No Contact Order against Wyatte, which was issued in January by the Delaware Superior Court.
As officers arrived in the area, they observed Wyatte fleeing in a green Ford Explorer. As officers turned their vehicles to initiate a stop, Wyatte fled westbound on White Oak Road. Wyatte, struck a 71-year-old woman in the intersection of White Oak Road and N. DuPont Highway and proceeded to flee northbound at a high rate of speed on N. DuPont Highway. Wyatte then turned into the Towne Point Neighborhood striking a parked Cadillac in the 500 Block of Nimitz Road. Wyatte soon lost control of his vehicle, causing it to flip over. Wyatte was taken into custody and treated at a nearby hospital for minor injuries. The 71-year-old woman remains hospitalized in critical condition as a result of her injuries after being struck by Wyatte. Investigating officers determined that Wyatte was under the influence of a drug, but are awaiting results of blood tests to determine the specific substance involved.
Wyatte was committed to JTVCC in default of $22,000 cash bond on the following charges:
-Vehicular Assault 1st Degree
-Driving Under the Influence (Drugs)
-Breach of Release (No Contact Order)
