Traffic Stop Leads to Firearms Arrest

Narrative:
The Dover Police Department arrested Zhamir Cooper-Watson (27, Smyrna) on firearms charges during a traffic stop on Sunday evening. At approximately 10:08 p.m., officers stopper Cooper-Watson for driving without his headlights on in the area of Forrest Avenue and Kenton Road. During the stop, Cooper-Watson was seen moving rapidly in the driver seat as if concealing something. Officers inquired if Cooper-Watson had anything in the vehicle that was illegal and he admitted to having a firearm in the trunk. Officers located handgun and three magazines inside of a backpack in the trunk. Officers then located a 9mm handgun under the driver’s seat of the vehicle. Cooper-Watson was taken into custody without incident and released on an O.R. bond on two counts of Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon.
