Two Teens Arrested on Weapons Charges Sunday Afternoon

Narrative: The Dover Police Department has arrested a 15-year-old, black male, and a 16-year-old, black male, both of Dover, on weapons and drug charges following a gun complaint Sunday afternoon. The investigation began when Dover Police took the report of several subjects loitering in the 986 building of Whatcoat apartments. It was relayed to officers that two of the individuals with this group were in possession of firearms. Officers went to the building and attempted to contact the group at which time they ran away. Officers were able to take the 15-year-old and 16-year-old into custody after a brief foot pursuit. A search of the 15-year-old revealed he was in possession of a hi-point 9mm handgun and 4.6 grams of crack cocaine. Officers also located a stolen hi point 9mm handgun in the area where the 16-year-old was taken into custody. As he was being placed into a patrol car, the 16-year-old moved his head aggressively toward an officer attempting to hit the officer.

Both juveniles were taken to Dover Police where they were processed and arraigned.

The 15-year-old was committed to Stevenson House Detention Center on $26,200 cash bail on the following charges:
-Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited(2x)
-Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon
-Resisting Arrest
-Possession of a controlled substance
-Possession of drug paraphernal

The 16-year-old was committed to Stevenson House Detention Center on $15,100 cash bail on the following charges:
-Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited
-Receiving a Stolen Firearm
-Tampering with Physical Evidence
-Resisting Arrest
-Menacing
