Pedestrian Dies After Being Struck by Vehicle 10-14-15

Narrative:

The Dover Police Department is investigating a fatal collision between a pedestrian and a vehicle that occurred on Tuesday evening. At approximately 8:47PM, Dillard Stevens (47) attempted to walk westbound across North DuPont Highway in the area of 1380 North DuPont Highway.  Stevens, who was not using a crosswalk or intersection to cross, walked in front of a 2001 Ford Taurus which was traveling southbound in the left travel lane.  Stevens was struck by the Taurus, causing fatal injuries.  Stevens was provided first aid and emergency medical treatment, but later died as a result of his injuries at Bayhealth Kent General Hospital.  It is suspected that the pedestrian was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident.  No charges are pending against the driver of the vehicle.
