The Dover Police Department arrested a 32-year-old Dover man on drug and firearm offenses on Wednesday evening.  Officers patrolling the area of S. New Street and W. Reed Street observed a black Toyota Corolla parked on the side of the road with a female in the driver’s seat and Michael Carrington standing on the passenger side.  Officers learned the vehicle was reported stolen out of Troop 7 of the Delaware State Police after running the tags.  When officer’s approached, the female and Carrington began to walk away.  As officer’s attempted to contact the pair, Carrington fled on foot.  Carrington was apprehended a short time later after an officer utilized their Taser.  During the foot pursuit, Carrington threw a bag containing 25.2 grams of marijuana and was found to be in possession of 2.7 grams of crack cocaine.  During the investigation, officers were able to determine that Carrington was operating a Honda Accord that was parked in front of the stolen vehicle, which was confirmed using video surveillance.  During a search of that vehicle, officers located a handgun in plain view, ammunition, and drug paraphernalia.

Carrington was committed to SCI on a $10,500 secured bond on the following offenses:
-Possession of Firearm/Ammo by Person Prohibited (2x)
-Resisting Arrest
-Possession of Marijuana
-Possession of Crack Cocaine
