Two Detained After Gunshot at Central Middle School 1-12-16

The Dover Police Department is currently on scene at Central Middle School (211 Delaware Avenue, Dover, DE) in response to a gunshot inside the school.  The incident occurred at approximately 12:15PM.  Officers responded immediately and have two suspects in custody and the firearm has been recovered.   Early indications are that one of the two students brought the firearm to school and possibly gave it to another student.  The student in possession of the firearm took it into a restroom and fired it one time.  It is unknown if the gun was fired intentionally or not.  There are no injuries to report.  In cooperation with Central Middle School staff, the school is currently on lock-down as a precaution as police and school staff check the school for any further issues.  This incident is not believed to have any relation to the bomb threat at Central Middle School which occurred earlier this morning. We will provide further information as it becomes available.
