Speeding Violation Leads to Drug Arrest, 3.26 Pounds of Marijuana Seized 4-9-2019

 Location: North DuPont Highway at Leipsic Road (Traffic Stop), Dover, DE

Narrative: 

On Monday, April 8th, 2019 at approximately 4:07PM, a Dover patrol officer was conducting speed enforcement in the area of N. DuPont Highway, south of Leipsic Road.  During this time, Deon Townsend (27) was stopped for a speeding violation.  During the traffic stop, the officer detected a strong odor of marijuana.  A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of approximately 1,482 grams (3.26 pounds) of marijuana, packaging material, 9.5 doses of Oxycodone, and two digital scales.  Townsend was taken into custody without incident and was released on an O.R. bond on the following offenses:
-Possession of Marijuana
-Possession with Intent to Deliver Marijuana
-Drug Paraphernalia
-Possession of Oxycodone
