Robbery Suspect Arrested After Fleeing Police 1-4-2019

Incident/Complaint#:  50-19-429 Date/Time:   Friday, January 4th, 2019 at 2:04PM Location:   Food Lion, 1030 Forrest Avenue, Dover, DE Officer Releasing Information:   M/Cpl. Mark Hoffman, Public Information Officer Narrative:  Dover – The Dover Police Department arrested a 49-year-old woman for a strong-armed robbery that occurred on Friday afternoon.  At approximately 2:04PM, officers were called to the Food Lion grocery store, located at 1030 Forrest Avenue for a reported robbery.  Upon arrival, officers contacted a 57-year-old female victim who advised that her purse was stolen by Rhonda Martin from her shopping cart.  The victim pursued Martin into the parking lot, where a struggle ensued over the purse.  Martin struck the victim several times before fleeing in a white Ford Explorer.  Officers in the areas located the Explorer traveling south on the POW-MIA Parkway towards Rodney Village.  A short time later, officers attempted to stop Martin, but she fled from officers.  Martin led officers south on S. State Street, East on Route 10, North on Bay Road, and into the King’s Cliff Mobile Home Park off of Bay Road.  Martin finally stopped and was taken into custody without further incident.  Martin was charged with Robbery Second Degree along with several traffic offenses stemming from the pursuit.   Mugshot and bond info was not available at time of release.
