Arrest Made in Burglary, Search Warrant Leads to Additional Charges 10-8-2019

Narrative:
The Dover Police Department has arrested James Ewell (22) for a burglary that occurred on September 26th, 2019. Police were notified that an apartment in the 300 building of Isabelle Isle, was burglarized between 4:45PM-5:30PM on September 26th.
It was learned that Ewell had stolen a key fob to the apartment at a gathering the day prior. Ewell returned to the apartment and stole several clothing items, electronics, cash, and a 9mm handgun.
On October 7th, 2019, the US Marshal First State Fugitive Task Force and Dover Police contacted Ewell on Governors Avenue near Reed Street while he was the passenger in a vehicle. Ewell fled on foot but was apprehended a short time later by pursuing officers. At the time of the arrest, Ewell was found in possession of 55 ecstasy pills. A search warrant was then obtained for Ewell’s apartment on Whatcoat Drive. During that search, officers located a Glock 45 handgun with an obliterated serial number, ammunition, and items of evidence connecting Ewell to the burglary.
Ewell was committed to SCI on a $157,700 bond on the following charges:
-Burglary 2nd Degree
-Theft of Firearm
-Theft over $1500.00
-Conspiracy 2nd Degree
-Possession of Firearm/Ammo by Person Prohibited (3x)
-Possession of Firearm During Commission of Felony
-Possession of Ecstasy (tier 4)
-Possession of Firearm with Obliterated Serial Number
-Possession with Intent to Deliver Ecstasy
-Fugitive in Possession of Firearm
-Illegal Gang Participation
-Resisting Arrest
-Drug Paraphernalia
